Our client a global growing business based in Reading are looking to hire a highly experienced and detail-oriented Senior Credit Controller to take full sole responsibility for the credit control function.

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and financial health of the company by implementing new processes, ensuring timely collections, and managing the month-end tasks related to the credit function. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in credit control, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Credit Control Management:
  • Oversee the entire credit control function, including managing customer credit limits, credit terms, and assessing creditworthiness.
  • Actively chase overdue payments through calls, emails, and other communication methods to maintain healthy cash flow.
  • Maintain accurate records of all communications with customers regarding overdue accounts.
  • Ensure timely collection of outstanding invoices, escalating to management when necessary.

Process Implementation and Improvement:

  • Collaborate with management to implement and streamline credit control processes, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Review and optimize existing processes, identifying opportunities to reduce risks and improve overall financial performance.
  • Ensure credit control policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to across all relevant departments.

Month-End Tasks:

  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of accounts receivable for month-end closing.
  • Prepare detailed aged debtor reports and analyse trends to identify potential issues.
  • Reconcile customer accounts, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
  • Assist in preparing reports for senior management regarding the financial status of receivables.

Customer Relations:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, understanding their needs and ensuring any disputes are resolved quickly and effectively.
  • Provide excellent customer service while maintaining the company’s credit policies and procedures.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

  • Work closely with the finance, sales, and operations teams to ensure smooth communication and alignment regarding customer accounts and credit matters.
  • Coordinate with the legal department if necessary for collections or credit risk management.

Risk Management:

  • Monitor and assess customer credit limits and exposure, making recommendations to reduce financial risks.
  • Flag high-risk accounts and suggest corrective actions to prevent financial loss.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of credit management, collections, and invoicing processes.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.

Desirable Attributes:

  • Experience with implementing or improving financial processes.
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, especially during month-end or high-volume periods.
