About the Role

As a Senior Credit Controller, you will be responsible for managing and reducing outstanding debts, ensuring compliance with cash collection policies, and collaborating with key stakeholders to maximise collections. You will play a crucial role in overseeing the debt ledger and maintaining strong client relationships to support financial stability.

Duties will include:

  • Managing and monitoring the debtor book, ensuring aged debt is minimised.
  • Proactively chasing outstanding payments via phone, email, and written communication.
  • Utilising credit control systems to maintain accurate records and workflows.
  • Collaborating with internal teams, including partners and finance professionals, to support debt collection.
  • Overseeing payment plans and ensuring adherence to agreed schedules.
  • Assisting with statutory audits by providing documentation and reports.
  • Taking action on overdue accounts, including referrals to external debt collectors or legal proceedings if necessary.
  • Contributing to process improvements within the credit control function.
  • Working towards monthly cash collection targets and service level agreements (SLAs).

About You

You will have at least three years’ experience in a credit control role within a professional services environment, ideally within the legal sector. Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as well as proficiency in Excel. A detail-oriented and proactive approach, along with the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure, will ensure success in this role. Experience with Elite 3E and people management would be advantageous.
