Finance Manager

This role would be based at their Reading Head office. With an established brand, great reputation and aggressive expansion plans, this is a great time to join!

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership, mentoring and direction to the finance team (6 reports)
  • Support the financial development of site GMs and their management teams
  • Working alongside the various business unit leaders to ensure financial awareness across all House operations
  • Provide a financial and analytical focus on operational decision making Financial Management
  • Ensure strong financial controls are in place and adhered to, including compliance with relevant regulations, tax laws and financial reporting standards
  • Develop and enhance existing financial systems and procedures to ensure effective reporting, financial planning and management across the organisation
  • Preparation and review of monthly management accounts for all areas of the business
  • Preparation of the annual statutory accounts and ensuring robust compliance
  • Balance sheet and cashflow management
  • Contribute to the implementation of best practices for financial management
  • Deliver the annual budget process and support longer term planning exercises
  • Provide ad-hoc financial and commercial analysis where required
  • Manage relationship with HMRC on all business taxation matters and ensuring all returns are submitted in an accurate and timely manner
  • Manage the annual statutory audit process Financial Reporting & Analysis
  • Ensure a solid understanding of financial performance by senior colleagues and budget holders
  • Presentation and interpretation of monthly management accounts for all areas of the business
  • Report and monitor key financial KPIs and ensure alignment with business objectives
  • Conduct regular financial analysis to identify trends, variances and areas for improvement
  • Initiate and support business improvement projects where necessary

Person specification:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably with a large SME organisation
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA qualification
  • Developing, motivating and leading a team
  • Great commercial awareness
  • Excellent communication skills able to explain and present financial information to non-finance colleagues
  • Ability to influence and build credibility with colleagues and senior leadership
  • A passion for continuous improvement with a result orientated approach
  • Ability to adapt with an aptitude for problem solving
