Head of Finance

Investigo are currently partnering a highly acquisitive, private equity backed logistics business to recruit a Head of Finance to lead a newly created Region.

The Head of Finance leads the accounting team to present accurate, relevant and reliable management information for four of the groups businesses. This role works collaboratively with all departments in in the Group to support the growth of the business, ensure its financial health, develop our people and processes to be "Best in Class" and strive for Continuous Improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Managing the finance team overseeing day to day operation of the finance department (Management Accounting, AP, AR, Payroll and VAT reporting), including responsibility for providing ongoing training, development & support of team members
  • Responsible for all internal management reporting (management accounts, KPI's, commentary and variance analysis), including preparation of month-end reporting packs for SLT
  • Ensure all balance sheet accounts are reconciled monthly including identifying risks and opportunities
  • Business Partner with the operational directorship ensuring revenue and costs are correctly attributed to the corresponding contract/activity. Investigating items that don't ring true to your understanding of the operational activity.
  • Responsible for budgeting and forecasting cycles including all reporting, version control and commentary on movements and variances
  • Costing & reviewing tender submissions, assisting in commercial decisions for tenders
  • Responsible for the accounting control and governance of the region and ensuring accurate and timely reporting with no financial misstatements, in compliance with relevant accounting standards
  • Ad-hoc analysis on business performance, looking to maximise efficiencies across the group

Qualifications:

Preferred: Accounting qualification (CIMA/ACCA)

Required Skills:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, demonstrating emotional intelligence skills
  • Able to present detailed financial analysis clearly to both finance and non-finance colleagues.
  • A clear understanding of when to delivery detailed analysis vs summarised data to the audience
  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Advanced Excel skills

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience of working within either Logistics or Tourism industries
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Power Query and Power BI
