Belcan Workforce Solutions is seeking a Process Plant and Equipment (PP&E / Tooling) Mechanical CAD Manager. This client-side role reports to the Operations Manager and supports both the Strategic Service Manager and the Integration & Efficiencies Manager. The permanent position offers hybrid working (2-3 days on-site per week) and is based in Reading.

The Mechanical CAD Manager will support CAD, BIM, Surveying, Compliance, Data Analytics, Handover and Tooling on client sites with a team of around 70 people. This role involves managing a team of Mechanical CAD Designers & Engineers using Inventor, supporting Manufacturing Engineers, Operational Facilities, Production Agencies, and Programmes. The Mechanical CAD Manager will align and manage Mechanical CAD services with standards and client procedures, develop and implement Mechanical CAD (Process Plant & Equipment) standards, and provide continual improvement and efficiencies in the service.







Key responsibilities include promoting standardised, efficient practices in creating and managing Hierarchical Model sets, overseeing the organisation of models, parts, and data using hierarchical assembly structures, and working with project resources to rationalize requirements and identify solutions. The Mechanical CAD Manager will manage central office and remote project-based resources, ensure efficient communication within the Managed Service hierarchy and customer organization, and ensure suitably qualified and experienced resources meet project requirements. Additionally, the role involves overseeing project budgets, estimating, and delivery programmes, identifying opportunities for workflow efficiencies and continuous improvement, and working with the Compliance team to understand project baselines and develop reporting methodologies.







Qualifications for the Mechanical CAD Manager include a degree or HNC/D in an engineering subject or equivalent, advanced knowledge of Modelling principles and CAD Authoring packages (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD), and advanced knowledge of Hierarchical Assembly Data and common data environments (e.g., Vault, Teamcenter). The candidate should have an understanding of manufacturing and engineering methods and processes. Technical skills and experience required include leadership/management experience, digital integration of Mechanical CAD deliverables with other discipline systems, and advanced knowledge of collaboration software.
