A well-established educational institution in Reading is seeking a Science Technician to join their team on a permanent basis. This role is crucial for supporting the science department by preparing materials and equipment for laboratory sessions and ensuring a safe working environment for students and staff.
Day-to-day of the role:- Prepare materials and equipment for science experiments and practical lessons.
- Ensure that all laboratory equipment is functional and safe to use.
- Assist in the maintenance and organization of science laboratories.
- Support teachers and students during laboratory sessions.
- Manage the stock of chemicals and laboratory supplies, ensuring that all materials are stored safely.
- Implement health and safety protocols in the laboratories, including the disposal of chemicals and biological waste.
- Assist in the setup and breakdown of equipment for special projects and events.
- Proven experience as a Science Technician within the UK.
- Strong understanding of science laboratory procedures and safety regulations.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, capable of supporting both staff and students.
- Relevant qualifications in a science-related field are preferred.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willing to undergo checks).
