Job Description:

My clientis seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a background in the wastewater industry to join their dynamic team in Maidenhead. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the maintenance, design, and installation of mechanical systems used in wastewater treatment. Your expertise will support our engineering teams to ensure optimal system performance, safety, and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, install, and maintain mechanical systems, including pumps, valves, and pipework, within wastewater treatment plants.
  • Collaborate with project teams to ensure timely completion of engineering tasks.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and diagnostics of existing mechanical systems to ensure their functionality and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and project plans.
  • Manage the procurement and installation of mechanical components, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the operations team, helping resolve mechanical issues.
  • Utilise industry-standard mechanical design tools and software to model, simulate, and troubleshoot systems.
  • Work closely with clients, contractors, and vendors to ensure that project specifications are met and delivered to the highest standard.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Mechanical Engineer within the wastewater or water treatment sector.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, including pumps, pipework, valves, and actuators.
  • Familiarity with mechanical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar).
  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting mechanical systems in industrial settings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good understanding of health and safety regulations within the wastewater industry.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is preferred.

Desirable:

  • Wastewater treatment experience and a background in managing mechanical components within water or wastewater treatment plants.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards, such as BS EN 1090 or ISO 9001.
  • Experience with project management and coordinating mechanical installations.
