Fully Remote Payroll Assistant (Contract), £12-£15 hourly 

Payroll involves the comprehensive process of managing employee compensation, including calculating wages, processing statutory payments, managing deductions, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation. It requires meticulous attention to detail, confidentiality, and adherence to company policies and procedures. Effective payroll management ensures employees are paid accurately and on time, contributing to the overall satisfaction and efficiency of the workforce.

Core Duties for the Fully Remote Payroll Assistant: 
  • Maintain Payroll System: Gather, calculate, and input data to keep payroll records updated.
  • Resolve Queries: Address payroll-related questions via telephone, face-to-face interactions, and email.
  • Investigate Discrepancies: Identify, investigate, and resolve inconsistencies in timesheets and payroll records.
  • Calculate Liabilities: Determine PAYE and National Insurance liabilities for payment to HMRC.
  • Process Statutory Payments: Handle statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, etc.
  • Manage Third-Party Deductions: Process deductions for items like Unison, Season Tickets, Court Orders, and liaise with third-party providers as necessary.
  • Administer Salary Sacrifice Schemes: Oversee various salary sacrifice schemes.
  • Ensure Compliance: Follow payroll policies and procedures and comply with relevant legislation.
  • Administrative Tasks: Perform ad-hoc administrative duties including filing, printing P45s, etc.
