We are currently looking for an Environment & Sustainability Advisor for a role with a large power and utilities contractor working on an extensive framework along the M4 corridor.

Ideal candidate would be an experienced Environment & Sustainability Advisor with experienced in the construction or civil engineering sectors. You will play a key role in developing and implementing environmental strategies, polivies and initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations, minimise environmental impacts and promote sustainability across our operations.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain environmental management systems (EMS) to ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, regulations, and standards.
  • Conduct environmental audits, assessments, and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to environmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal stakeholders on environmental issues, best practices, and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, engineering, and health and safety, to integrate environmental considerations into business processes and decision-making.
  • Monitor and analyse environmental performance data, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and prepare reports for management review.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies, external consultants, and third-party organisations on environmental permitting, reporting, and compliance matters.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs and awareness campaigns to educate employees and promote a culture of environmental sustainability.
  • Participate in environmental impact assessments (EIAs) and environmental management plans (EMPs) for new projects and developments.
  • Stay informed about emerging environmental trends, technologies, and regulations, and assess their potential impact on company operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental sustainability goals, targets, and initiatives.

Skills & Experience
  • Bachelors degree in environmental science, Environmental Engineering, or related field; relevant professional certifications preferred (e.g., IEMA, NEBOSH).
  • Proven experience working in environmental management, sustainability, or related field, preferably within the [industry/sector] sector.
  • Sound knowledge of environmental legislation, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to interpret and apply requirements effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to collect, analyse, and interpret environmental data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team to achieve environmental objectives.
  • Proficiency in environmental management software and tools is desirable.
  • Ability to travel occasionally to company sites and project locations as needed.
  • Commitment to promoting environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility.
