We are working alongside a vibrant, inclusive mixed middle school located in the heart of Berkshire, proudly rated as 'Good' overall by Ofsted. The school is known for its welcoming atmosphere, dedicated staff, and a student body eager to learn and grow. As they're a middle school, they bridge the crucial transition between primary and secondary education, offering students in Years 5-8 a nurturing yet challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities

As a Maths Teacher, you will:

  • Teaching and Learning:

    • Design and deliver dynamic and engaging lessons aligned with the national curriculum, tailored to students in Key Stages 2 and 3.
    • Use innovative teaching strategies to cater to various learning styles and abilities, ensuring all students can achieve their potential.
    • Regularly assess and monitor student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to students and parents.
  • Classroom Management:

    • Create a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting mutual respect and a love for mathematics.
    • Maintain high standards of behaviour and implement effective classroom management strategies in line with school policies.
  • Collaboration and Contribution:

    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to develop and refine the maths curriculum and share best practices.
    • Contribute to the wider school community through participation in staff meetings, professional development sessions, and extracurricular activities.
    • Support the school's ethos by actively promoting its values and initiatives.
  • Parental Engagement:

    • Build strong relationships with parents and carers, providing regular updates on student progress and addressing any concerns.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who embodies passion for mathematics and dedication to teaching. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Essential:

    • Qualifications: A recognised teaching qualification such as a PGCE, with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
    • Experience: Proven experience teaching mathematics at Key Stages 2 and/or 3.
    • Subject Knowledge: A deep understanding of the maths curriculum, with the ability to break down complex concepts into accessible learning objectives.
    • Skills: Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and parents.
    • Must be available ASAP.
  • Desirable:

    • Previous experience in a middle school setting.
    • A proven track record of raising attainment in mathematics.
    • The ability to contribute to extracurricular activities, such as a maths club or competitions.
