Mental Health Assistant - Full Time - Reading - Full Time

We are working alongside a brilliant school in Reading who are seeking a confident individual to take on the role of Mental Health Assistant this term. The school provide education to students that have additional social, emotional and mental health needs. The students at the school benefit from consistent support and encouragement, making the Mental Health Assistant role a truly rewarding position.

The main responsibilities of a Mental Health Assistant:

  • Implementing therapeutic techniques (assisted by educational psychologists)
  • Creating a safe space for students to express themselves
  • Identifying potential triggers leading to challenging behaviour
  • Collaborating with class teachers to tailor learning material
  • Acting as a role model to students

The school is enirely committed to creating a nurturing, safe space for students to explore and develop their independence. The children attending the school face challenges such as social and communication difficulties and mental health difficulties. As a Mental Health Assistant, you will play a crucial part throughout the school day by helping these vulnerable students develop healthy coping mechanisms and communication techniques.
