Learning Technologist

Full time (35 hrs/wk), permanent

Split place of work between Horizons (Reading, Berkshire) and Home with 1 day per week spent at Horizons

Salary up to £35,000 pa plus benefits

We have a fantastic opportunity for two enthusiastic individuals to join our growing Learning Technology team to support with the development and build of online learning for UCEM. You will work closely with Learning Designers on the development of academic modules, providing advice and guidance on the best technology tools to support the pedagogical approach. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone to make a real difference to the student experience at UCEM, ensuring that the systems used to deliver online learning are efficient and offer a brilliant user experience.

Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:

  • Manage the scheduling and delivery of the Learning Technology tasks required for Module Development
  • Work collaboratively with the Module Development team (Module Leader and Learning Designer) to set up modules on the VLE (Moodle)
  • Advise colleagues on the functionality of the VLE (Moodle), and other learning technologies that are used by UCEM (Zoom, Turnitin, Padlet, Bongo). Develop user guides, provide training and support internal users as required
  • Identify and manage a portfolio of improvement projects that will enhance user experience and efficiency

Our main requirements:

  • GCSE Maths and English Language Grade C or 4 or above
  • Hands-on experience of implementing curriculum in a Virtual Learning Environment, and the use of other educational technologies to build learning activities that support teaching and assessment
  • Providing advice on how to utilise technology to provide a high-quality student experience
  • Successful project management including planning and allocating work, leading meetings, prioritising tasks, and reporting progress
