ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for a Tutor to support a non-verbal pupil with cerebral palsy in Reading.

About The Pupil

ASEND is looking for an experienced tutor to support a 14-year-old pupil in his home in Reading. He has cerebral palsy and as a result is unable to express himself verbally, is visually impaired and unable to move around independently. Despite these challenges, he finds joy in music, lights, and touch. He communicates through vocalisations and facial expressions.

We are looking for a tutor who has supported pupils with medical needs and who will help develop his communication abilities, with sessions taking place both at home and in the community. Our young pupil needs someone who loves what they do, who has a compassionate and kind personality to be able to accommodate this young man’s needs and help him develop.

About you:

  • You’ll have some experience with SEN: severe learning difficulties, non verbal communication and medical needs

  • You may be an experienced tutor or teacher or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way

  • You’ll have a passion for helping pupils overcome any barriers to learning and difficulties with engagement

  • You’ll be good at building rapport and strong relationships with children and their families - we work closely with families to create a plan

  • Ideally, have some experience of helping children with their learning

  • Have the ability to motivate and inspire pupils

  • Use a person-centred approach in their work

  • Make the wellbeing, achievement, and progress of your pupils central to everything that you plan and do

  • Have the determination and energy to bring about continuous improvement.
