My client, a leader in providing logistics services across the high-end hotel sector, is looking to recruit an experienced Import/Export Shipping Clerk to join its small (but growing) friendly, sociable team.

ROLE: Import/Export Shipping Clerk

HOURS: Monday to Friday 9 am - 5.30 pm - HYBRID working with up to three days per week working from home

LOCATION: This is a rural location just outside Reading so would suit a car driver/owneer

ROLE:

The Import/Export Shipping Clerk will be working as part of a team co-ordinating the shipping of customer orders to all countries within the EMEA region. A varied role including:

  • Effective and timely shipment of goods.
  • Liaise with Chamber of Commerce, country Embassy and other 3rd party bodies.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, 3rd party warehouse and vendors to ensure timely collections and deliveries.
  • Identify and provide all documentation required to export to destination.
  • Monitor inbound freight and relay to internal stakeholders and 3rd party warehouse
  • Issue clearance instructions and all associated documents.
  • Pro-active management of backorders.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

We are looking for a highly organised individual who has an enthusiastic approach, works well under pressure and has previous import/export experience.

You will need to be familiar with importing and exporting terminology, understand the requirements for shipping to Middle East, be organised and able to work with shared mailboxes.

  • Minimum of 2 years in similar role
  • Proven experience of international shipments against all transport modes.
  • Knowledge of incoterms and associated risks.
  • Understanding of pre-shipment inspections.
  • Knowledge of payment terms including letter of credit.
  • Computer literate with an intermediate knowledge of Word and Excel
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Full driving license and access to a car
  • Strong team player
