Medacs Healthcare is proud to be playing an integral part in delivering a new Functional Assessment Services contract on behalf of the UK Department for Work and Pensions. The contract will involve the delivery of more than 3.5 million health and disability assessments nationally.
The role of an Occupational Health Nurse Advisor will provide comprehensive health and safety services to employees within our client's organisations. This role involves assessing and supporting the management of workplace health risks, promoting health and wellness, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
This role is a Part time role whereby we are looking for someone for a maximum of 4 days per week, and minimum 3 days per week. The days would include Tuesday and Thursday and would ideally be onsite, based at our Redcar site but we are open to considering a remote opportunity.
Here's some of the key responsibilities:
- Conduct pre-employment assessments for new employees, identifying potential risks and providing advice on any adjustments required
- Undertake comprehensive management referrals, complex case and absence management, writing concise, evidence-based reports for HR/management
- Identify, mitigate and communicate potential health conditions caused by work, through the effective undertaking of health surveillance
- Deliver immunisation programmes in line with our client's industry standards and recommendations, including phlebotomy and up to date anaphylaxis knowledge
- Undertake drug and alcohol screening
- Support our OH physicians in the delivery of their onsite clinics
- Conduct workplace risk assessments, providing recommendations for any corrective actions and ongoing maintenance in line with relevant legislation
- Support our clients via workplace health education
- Coordinate with external healthcare providers and specialists.
- Conduct health and wellness workshops and training sessions
- Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
- Maintain practice standards in accordance with Nursing and Midwifery Council professional standards and codes of conduct, legislation and best practice, so that the highest standards of professionalism are adhered to.
- Maintain record systems in accordance with legislation and organisational requirements.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of 3 years occupational health experience
- Case management experience, including management referrals, complex cases and absence management
- Evidence-based report writing skills, communicating findings effectively to HR/management
- Evidenced experience in managing demanding situations with internal and external stakeholders.
- Evidence of professional registration and continuous professional development
- It would be desirable to have a Degree/diploma in occupational health
