Our client, a rapidly growing metal trader with five depots across the UK, is seeking a highly motivated and ambitious Business Development Executive to join their dynamic team. This is a fantastic opportunity to build a long-term career in the metals industry with a company that offers excellent growth prospects and rewards success.

 

The Role:

Initially, the Business Development Executive will work closely with a Senior Metal Trader, gaining industry knowledge and experience before transitioning into a field-based role. The successful candidate will spend 4-5 days per week on the road, focusing on acquiring non-ferrous and some ferrous metals from scrap merchants and manufacturers.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with scrap merchants and manufacturers.
  • Sourcing and purchasing non-ferrous and ferrous metals.
  • Conducting regular client visits to identify and secure new business opportunities.
  • Negotiating competitive pricing and ensuring profitable transactions.
  • Working closely with internal teams to ensure smooth operations and customer satisfaction.
  • Maintaining accurate records and reports on purchasing activities.
  • Meeting and exceeding business development targets.

 

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Self-motivated, results-driven, and ambitious with a passion for sales and relationship building.
  • Previous experience in business development, field sales, or metal trading is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • A proactive and tenacious approach to securing new business.
  • Willingness to travel to develop and maintain client relationships.
