Senior Electronics EngineerSenior Electronics Engineer Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the role is to create, maintain and release high-quality hardware and firmware to schedule, by Company standards.  

Senior Electronics Engineer - Key Responsibilities:

  • The purpose of the role is the design, simulation, debugging, testing and maintenance of microprocessor-based electronic sub-systems comprising programmable logic devices, communications interfaces and related support devices.
  • This will be undertaken alongside other technical activities while working with hardware, software, mechanical and PCB engineers to deliver specific project goals derived from future product requirements.
  • Responsibilities will include the identification and selection of suitable devices, design of digital sub-systems, liaising with the PCB designer and developing firmware.
  • A key element of the role will be the delivery of hardware and firmware within agreed timescales and to budget
  • The right candidate will be capable of designing and delivering designs with test and manufacture in mind.  
  • Demonstration of competence in using schematic entry tools and the VHDL hardware description language. 

Outline of Competencies:

  • Experience in developing hardware and firmware through the entire lifecycle.
  • Ability to work independently without the need for close supervision.
  • Ability to analyse processes or tools to propose improvements where applicable..

Qualifications and Experience required:

  • Team working ability and drive to deliver on time
  • Experience in digital sub-system design
  • Experience of embedded processors and programmable logic devices
  • Experience of interfacing with hardware devices and peripherals
  • Familiarity with VHDL and its development tools
  • Familiarity with firmware simulation tools
  • Behavioural: self-starting, adaptable, problem solving 

 Desirable:

  • An understanding of design for test and manufacture 
  • Knowledge of issue-tracking tools, such as Jira.
  • Knowledge of releasing software to Production
  • Some knowledge of analogue and digital audio
  • An appreciation of interfacing with embedded software
