Our client is in need of a Warehouse Assistant to be responsible for the physical and administrative control of materials required at and issued from the company’s Stores locations. The role includes manual handling of goods received or despatched, including Picking, Checking and Packing. Training will be given.

Key responsibilities of Warehouse Assistant:

  • To assist the Warehouse Supervisor and other stores staff with maintaining standards of efficient stock handling and accurate and relevant stock records.
  • Manual handling of goods received and despatched.
  • Picking and packing items ready for despatch.
  • Assist with the maintenance of an efficient Goods Inwards/Outwards procedure, processing goods inwards documentation, advice notes, etc and filing and helping to ensure that all goods are received and despatched accurately and on time.
  • Maintain accuracy of serial number tracked items and update the warranty database (Excel) and other databases as required.
  • Handle repairs and returns as instructed, ensuring that all non-conforming and faulty goods received are handled effectively and in line with company performance measures.
  • Participate in stock takes and specific stock checks (cycle counting) under the direction of the Warehouse Supervisor.
  • Assist with the control of stock in alternative locations.
  • Be proactive daily in the maintenance of a rubbish free building internal and external and to maintain good housekeeping.
  • Be aware of the controls required for the transport of Hazardous Goods and to comply with procedures in place regarding this, and in time to undertake external Hazardous goods training.
  • To be aware of the Known Consignor Status of the company and maintain standards and procedures in this regard.
  • Participate in product awareness and administrative process training as may be required to maintain an effective level of support.
  • Provide Facilities support within the building in terms of assistance with work area changes, help with movement of equipment or materials, minor maintenance tasks etc.
  • Be responsible for specific daily tasks e.g. water machine and photocopy paper replenishment throughout the building.
  • Ensure efficient daily despatch of outgoing Post, on occasions delivering mail directly to local Post Office / Franked Post Box as required.
  • Always Have good working practices and conformance to Health and Safety Policy and Quality Assurance procedures.
  • Receive training in how to operate the counterbalance forklift truck for loading/unloading/removals around the building and for transferring equipment around storage area.
  • Upskill on aftersales & returns management.
  • Learning other logistics roles and tasks to help during holidays and other absences within the wider logistics team.

Key Requirements:

  • Good level of secondary education, literate and numerate.
  • Certificate of proficiency to operate forklift trucks.
  • Must be computer literate and have accurate inputting skills.
  • Great communication skills.
  • Physically capable to cope with loads which have to be moved/carried.
  • Attention to detail essential.
  • Awareness of safe working practices within Warehouse environment
