Job Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic team within the Cancer and Diagnostics Division at East Surrey Hospital. You will assess and treat patients with diverse and complex conditions across general medical wards, managing your caseload autonomously and effectively coordinating with the multidisciplinary team to facilitate optimal discharge planning and patient outcomes.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Independently manage a varied clinical caseload, applying advanced clinical reasoning and specialist skills.

  • Provide high-quality assessments and tailored interventions, documenting accurately and maintaining comprehensive records.

  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care.

  • Supervise and support Band 5 Occupational Therapists, Therapy Assistants, junior staff, and students.

  • Deputise for the Occupational Therapy Team Leader when required.

  • Participate in rostered evening and weekend work.

  • Actively contribute to service improvement, audit, and clinical governance initiatives.

Essential Criteria

  • Degree/Diploma in Occupational Therapy

  • HCPC registration

  • Relevant experience 

  • Proven skills in assessment, intervention planning, and multidisciplinary collaboration

  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
