Senior Quantity Surveyor - Mechanical

  • Location: Initially 3 days in the office, reducing to 2 days after 6 months. Hybrid role with early Friday finish.
  • Job Type: Full-time

Join our client who are a leading SME in the design, engineering, and installation of mechanical systems across various sectors. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for overseeing all commercial activities across the group, ensuring the financial health and smooth operations of their projects.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Prepare applications and invoices for various projects.
  • Prepare and value variations, early warning notices, and compensation events.
  • Review contracts at both tender and order stages to ensure compliance and profitability.
  • Provide commercial reviews of ongoing contracts, report to the commercial director, including cash flow forecasting and project budgeting against costs.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and agree on final accounts with clients.
  • Monitor contracts against programme and issue delay notices/claims as appropriate.
  • Attend client commercial meetings to discuss and resolve financial issues.
  • Oversight of the JCT and NEC forms of contract
  • Visit sites to monitor progress of works and assist project managers in ensuring projects are completed as per the contractual terms.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong knowledge of the construction industry, ideally with a mechanical bias.
  • Clear understanding of NEC and (ideally) JCT forms of contracts.
  • Excellent financial and numeracy management skills.
  • Proficient in negotiation and communication.
  • Ability to absorb complex information and assess requirements readily.
  • High level of computer literacy, especially with MS Office suite.
  • a real "go-getter" - someone who wants to progress to Commerical Director and effect change!
