We are seeking a Head of Buying to join our clients senior management team. This role involves working closely with the Managing Director and liaising with worldwide suppliers. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the purchasing process, from identifying new suppliers to managing orders and ensuring compliance with the company’s ethical sourcing policies.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Source products that meet customer specifications, ensuring the best combination of price, lead-time, and quality.
  • Negotiate favourable prices, payment terms, and deals with suppliers.
  • Adhere to the company’s ethical sourcing policies for full compliance.
  • Assist with Quality Control and Logistics, including importing and customs, coordinating with the in-house logistics team for timely delivery.
  • Manage customer tenders, providing Sales & Marketing with relevant pricing and data.
  • Issue formal purchase orders and handle all associated administration through the order processing system.
  • Maintain a comprehensive written documentation trail in accordance with company requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Demand Planning Manager & Operations Manager to meet delivery, availability, and stock targets.
  • Regularly research, discuss, and introduce new suppliers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of customers, their brands, and their requirements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Previous Procurement Manager or Head of Buying Experience
  • Tenacious with a strong determination to succeed.
  • Commercially astute with excellent negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Proficient in time management and interpersonal communication.
  • Knowledge of stock control, international shipping, duties, and delivery processes is beneficial.
  • Strong planning, organisational, and IT skills, including proficiency with spreadsheets.
  • Effective administrative skills.
  • Knowledge of French or Spanish is advantageous but not essential.
