Academics are working with a welcoming and inclusive small primary school located in the Retford area, seeking an experienced and dedicated SENDCO to join their team. This is a part-time role, requiring a commitment of one day every fortnight, with flexibility on which day of the week this falls.
About the RoleAs a SENDCO, you will play a vital part in ensuring that all children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) have access to an inclusive education. Working closely with the staff, parents, and external agencies, you will be responsible for overseeing the provision for children with SEND and ensuring they reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinating provisions for children with SEND
- Liaising with and advising teachers to ensure effective inclusion practices
- Overseeing and maintaining accurate records for all children with SEND
- Communicating effectively with parents, Local Authority support, Educational Psychology services, and other relevant external agencies such as Health and Social Services
- Representing the school at meetings relating to SEND provisions
The ideal SENDCO candidate will:
- Have prior experience as a practicing SENDCO in a primary school environment
- Hold the National Award for SENDCO
- Have a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and demonstrate the ability to implement it into school-wide strategies and practices
- Be tenacious and committed to ensuring every child with SEND has access to an inclusive, high-quality education
- Hold or be willing to process an Enhanced DBS Certificate
- Location: Retford
