Job Specification

Position: Agricultural Scientist

Location: North Wales

Hours: Monday - Friday

Salary: 36,000p/a circa

You will be responsible for providing technical expertise and continuous development of company products, fertilisers and pesticides, to ensure treatments can be carried out all year round, in changing climatic conditions and producing the best outcomes, which is the key responsibility of the Agricultural Scientist.

Main duties:

  • Managing the technical requirements of suppliers and ensuring all products meet the required standards.
  • Ensure quality remains the priority for all products used by the Company Owned and Franchise Branches.
  • Launch new products and product improvements on time.
  • Learn and conduct experiments on how weather conditions, agriculture, and pests affect quality, to ensure the best possible outcomes and services to the customers.
  • Take soil temperature measurements and collect and log rainfall, to ensure the company has a record of what the conditions are like.
  • Understand the herbicides and their efficacy in different parts of the country and weather conditions.
  • Keep knowledge of botany, pest control and weather conditions up to date by using reliable sources.
  • Identify lawn diseases and advise how to treat them correctly.
  • Respond to enquiries regarding treatments from across the network.
  • Collaborate with the health and safety team to ensure the required training has been provided, including safe handling of products, PPE and manual handling.
  • Deliver comprehensive trials of new products, equipment and delivery methods for potential use within the business.
  • Write and update Method Statements, detailing how to use our products and equipment, for inclusion in the Operations Manual.
  • Carry out any other duties that may be considered relevant to the position within the terms of your contract of employment.
