Caretaker

A friendly and inclusive school in the London Borough of Richmond is looking for a committed Caretaker to join their facilities team. This crucial role, reporting to the Site Manager, involves maintaining the school’s environment and ensuring it remains safe, clean, and secure for both staff and students.

Hours: Morning and afternoon shifts, 7am – 4pm and 10am – 7pm

Day to Day of the role:

• Conduct regular routine inspections of the buildings and grounds, documenting findings and promptly reporting any issues to the Site Manager.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the playground, paths, and fire escapes, and manage the disposal of litter and waste in outdoor bins.
• Operate and maintain school heating, lighting, water, and ventilation systems to the required standards.
• Perform minor repairs, improvements, and decoration tasks as needed.
• Report any health and safety concerns or defects to the Site Manager.
• Manage the safe control of Legionella bacteria and operate the school fire alarm system, including weekly checks.
• Ensure fire safety equipment is serviceable and in proper condition.
• Oversee the work of in-house and contract cleaners, ensuring high standards of cleanliness are met.
• Handle the security of the school premises, including locking/unlocking gates and doors.
• Act as a main key holder, managing the secure storage and distribution of school keys.
• Willingness to undergo enhanced DBS clearance
