As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and detailed estimates for electrical installations on various projects. You will work closely with the project management team, engineers, and suppliers to ensure that all costs are accurately calculated and competitive. You will be involved in all stages of the estimating process, from initial site assessments to final bid submissions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare accurate electrical cost estimates for commercial, residential, and industrial projects.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and documents to develop detailed estimates for electrical works.
- Communicate with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to obtain pricing and information on materials and labor costs.
- Conduct site visits to assess project scope and requirements.
- Analyze and evaluate electrical design proposals and systems to ensure they are cost-effective and practical.
- Prepare and submit bid proposals, ensuring they align with the client's budget and expectations.
- Work closely with project managers to monitor and track costs during project execution.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of electrical industry standards, trends, and new technologies.
- Assist with tender submissions and manage the bid process from start to finish.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to source materials and suppliers.
- Provide post-bid support, including cost breakdowns and clarifications, to clients.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator or in a similar estimating role within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, installations, and industry practices.
- Excellent understanding of estimating software and tools.
- Experience with electrical cost databases and market price comparisons.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills to liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, project specifications, and other documentation.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Relevant qualifications, including a degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Previous experience working with electrical contracts for commercial, residential, and/or industrial projects is a plus.
