Contract Details:

  • Duration: 12-month contract

  • Rate: £45-£55 per hour (Inside IR35)

  • Location: Warrington (3 days onsite per week)

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Project Quality Control Engineer to provide independent quality assurance and inspection expertise for the successful delivery of projects and contracts. The role involves ensuring compliance with defined quality control and inspection requirements within design documentation and verifying the quality of delivered equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a primary liaison with customers to understand and address their quality assurance, quality control, and inspection expectations.

  • Collaborate with Engineering and Project teams to ensure that design deliverables incorporate customer and internal quality control requirements.

  • Review and approve supplier quality arrangements, including customer approvals of manufacturing documentation (e.g., Quality Control Plans, weld schedules, NDT procedures).

  • Attend supply chain kick-off meetings to align all parties with quality and inspection requirements.

  • Develop and assign inspection activities for Inspectors.

  • Plan, arrange, and conduct inspection assignments, ensuring effective communication with customer inspection personnel.

  • Perform risk assessments before conducting inspections.

  • Conduct inspections of equipment, witness critical tasks such as NDT and functional testing, and review supporting documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure proper documentation, reporting, and final release of procured items.

  • Advise on quality control and inspection matters, identifying risks and issues.

  • Support project meetings, contract reviews, and handover sessions.

  • Assist in supplier assessments and performance monitoring.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality control processes and supplier engagement.

  • Support the resolution of product quality non-conformances and ensure proper documentation.

  • Monitor project quality performance and escalate concerns where necessary.

  • Review tender, contract, and purchase documentation to ensure compliance with quality specifications.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Ensure full compliance with company Quality Management System (QMS) and Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.

Essential Experience & Skills:

  • Strong working knowledge of:

    • Nuclear industry regulations and customer quality requirements.

    • ISO 9001 application.

    • Manufacturing techniques and processes.

  • Hands-on experience in:

    • Fabrication and welding techniques.

    • NDT techniques.

    • Mechanical and electrical inspection, assembly, and testing.

    • Reviewing material certifications.

    • Development of Quality Control Plans (QCPs) and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs).

  • Completed a manufacturing apprenticeship supported by relevant NVQs.

  • Background in the manufacture, assembly, and testing of turnkey specialist assemblies.

Desirable Qualifications & Competencies:

  • HNC or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Weld Inspection Qualification (CSWIP 3.1 or PCN Level 2 in Welding Inspection).

  • Auditor training.

  • Strong IT skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet, etc.).

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.

  • Willingness to travel within the UK and occasionally overseas.

  • Proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and health & safety.
