CompanyHugely successful manufacturing business based in Rochdale, have created a new role for a Senior Management Accountant (CIMA/ACCA/ACA) to join their well established finance team. The role has been created of the back of sustained organic growth and a recent acquisition, increasing volumes across the group. Key ResponsibilitiesReporting into the Head of Finance and managing two part qualified accountants you will be responsible for the delivery of the management reporting, alongside commercial insight and business partnering to support in driving profitability. 
  • Management Reporting: Prepare and present accurate monthly financial reports to senior management, highlighting key financial performance indicators, variances, and trends in manufacturing operations.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process and regular re-forecasting to ensure alignment with business objectives, providing insight into cost controls and profitability.
  • Cost Analysis: Analyse production costs, overheads, and margins, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations for cost saving initiatives.
  • Variance Analysis: Investigate and explain variances between actual performance and budgeted/forecasted results, providing actionable insights to drive operational efficiency.
  • Inventory Management: Oversee the valuation and reporting of inventory, ensuring accurate stock levels, cost of goods sold, and waste analysis.
  • Capital Investment Appraisal: Assess and model financial viability for new capital expenditure projects, ensuring appropriate returns on investment (ROI) and alignment with strategic goals.
  • Cash Flow Management: Manage working capital, focusing on optimising cash flow while minimising financial risk within the manufacturing process.
  • Product Profitability Analysis: Provide commercial insights into the profitability of individual products or product lines, advising on pricing strategies and production efficiency improvements.
  • Internal Controls and Compliance: Ensure robust internal controls over financial reporting, manufacturing costs, and compliance with relevant financial regulations and industry standards.
  • Strategic Business Partnering: Work closely with operational managers to influence business decisions, providing financial insight that supports business growth, cost reduction, and efficiency improvements.

  • Advanced Financial Analysis: Strong ability to interpret financial data, conduct variance analysis, and draw actionable insights that drive strategic decision making and cost optimisation.
  • Commercial Acumen: A deep understanding of manufacturing operations, cost structures, and profitability drivers, with the ability to provide insightful recommendations that improve financial performance.
  • Proficiency in Financial Software and Tools: Expertise in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills
  • Strong Communication and Stakeholder Management: Ability to present financial information in a clear, understandable manner to non financial stakeholders, and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (e.g., operations, procurement, sales).
  • Problem Solving and Strategic Thinking: A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to identify financial inefficiencies, propose improvements, and support long term strategic goals of the business.
