BSL Teaching Assistant

Position: Teaching Assistant (BSL)Location: Rochdale OL11 Salary: Competitive, dependent on experienceContract Type: Full-time, long term FKey Stages: KS1 & KS2We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant (TA) with British Sign Language (BSL) skills to join our partner school in Rochdale. This role will involve providing essential support to pupils across Key Stage 1 (KS1) and Key Stage 2 (KS2) who require communication assistance. This is a smaller than average classroom with 8 children who have hearing impairments. There is 1 main class teacher and 3 other TA's present within the classroom. Key Responsibilities:* Support students with hearing impairments by using British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication.* Assist the class teacher in creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment.* Work one-on-one or in small groups to reinforce learning and assist with curriculum activities.* Promote confidence and independence in students with additional communication needs.* Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to ensure the best support for students.Requirements:* BSL Qualification (minimum Level 2, Level 3+ preferred).* Experience working with children in an educational setting.* A strong understanding of KS1 and KS2 curriculum.* Patience, empathy, and a commitment to inclusive education.* Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.Benefits:* Opportunity to make a real difference in students' learning and development.* A supportive and inclusive school environment.* Professional development and training opportunities.* Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.* Long term role, until July 2025 with an opportunity for school contract How to Apply:If you have the skills and passion to support young learners using BSL, we'd love to hear from you!
