Randstad are recruiting for a Qualified Social Worker to join Rochdale Council's Cared for Children Team as an IRO. This is a full time role, offering an amazing pay rate of 40 per hour.

Responsibilities:

  • Chaired Looked After Child (LAC) Reviews, ensuring that care plans are meeting the needs of children in care and promoting their welfare.
  • Acted as an advocate for children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard in care planning and decision-making.
  • Scrutinised and challenged care plans, placements, and interventions to ensure they are appropriate, effective, and in the best interests of the child.
  • Worked closely with social workers, foster carers, residential staff, health professionals, education providers, and other key agencies to promote multi-agency working.
  • Ensured compliance with statutory regulations, policies, and guidance, including the Children Act 1989, IRO Handbook, and Working Together to Safeguard Children.
  • Escalated concerns through the dispute resolution process where plans were not in the best interests of the child, ensuring accountability and positive outcomes.
  • Reviewed Permanency Planning, ensuring children have stable, long-term arrangements that support their emotional and physical well-being.
  • Monitored and reviewed the progress of care leavers, ensuring they have appropriate support, accommodation, and pathways into education, training, or employment.
  • Provided oversight on court proceedings and Public Law Outline (PLO) processes, ensuring care planning aligns with legal requirements.
  • Maintained accurate, detailed, and timely records of all reviews, decisions, and escalations in line with local authority policies and statutory frameworks.

Requirements:

  • Social Work Degree or equivalent
  • Current registration with Social Work England
  • Enhanced DBS
