About the company:

We have an opportunity for an Assistant Estimator to join a fantastic small main contractor in Rochester, Kent. My client speclaises in design & build new build, refurbishment, extension and fit-out projects in a variety of sectors including educational, residential, commerial and retail projects.

About the role:

As Assistant Estimator, you will:

  • Assisting in the preparation of cost estimates, tenders, and budgets for various construction projects.
  • Reviewing drawings, specifications, and project requirements to understand scope and pricing considerations.
  • Conducting quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings using software such as Bluebeam, CostX, or Excel.
  • Liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain competitive quotes and pricing information.
  • Assisting in the analysis and comparison of subcontractor and supplier quotations.
  • Supporting the senior estimator in compiling tender submissions and pricing strategies.
  • Maintaining an up-to-date database of material and labour costs to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Attending site visits and pre-tender meetings to gather project-specific information.
  • Assisting in the preparation of value engineering proposals to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Ensuring all cost estimates and pricing align with project budgets and client expectations.

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years experience as a junior or assistant Estimator within the construction industy. My client welcomes applications from candidates who are undergoing their studies and are happy to provide day release should be it required.
