Product Support Engineer / Electronics Engineer

Our Project Services business in Rochester is looking for an Electronics Engineer to join the Design and Product Support team.

Our dynamic business is dedicated to delivering a range of increasingly sophisticated metering and data acquisition solutions to the power and energy industry. As part of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing proactive product support and training to our valued customers, as well as supporting our project delivery and field installation/commissioning teams. Our comprehensive portfolio includes both hardware and software solutions, developed in-house or sourced from trusted third-party suppliers. We specialise in tackling complex network solutions, Dynamic System Monitoring, Power Quality, and Generator performance monitoring.


Youll create impact by -
1. Providing internal training to Design Engineers / Field teams on our products and solutions
2. Daily interaction with internal and external clients to resolve problems ranging from simple to complex network, protocol, interfacing and data issues
3. Creating and maintaining reference and training documents
4. Assisting with configuring systems to ensure compliance to specifications (This will mostly be in the workshop but occasional site visits will be necessary so a full UK driving license is essential)
5. Interfacing with clients at the pre-sales stage
6. Occasionally conducting Factory Acceptance testing with customers present
7. Fault finding on systems to determine hardware/configuration issues

What does it take to be successful in this role?
8. Degree or equivalent in electronic engineering discipline or similar
9. Excellent written and spoken English.
10. Excellent problem solving skills and an engineering curiosity mindset
11. A good understanding of Network products and systems (configuring switches, VLANs etc) with hands on experience
12. Strong capabilities with PC applications (standard windows and manufacturer specific) - Knowledge of the principles of Cyber Security would be advantageous
13. Good understanding of electronic hardware and interfacing (RS232, RS485, microprocessors etc) 14. Ability to turn concepts into repeatable working solutions
15. Experience of working with protocols such as IEC104, Modbus, DLMS would be an advantage
16. Ability to build rapport with internal and external customers
