Our client is looking for a Payroll Manager with experience in using SAGE Payroll.

An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and process driven individual to join us in the position of Payroll Manager operating weekly payrolls.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead the end-to-end payroll process for circa 600 employees across multiple locations (using Sage). During bust periods this will increase to 1600 employees
  • Lead, manage and mentor one direct report.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing weekly payrolls, including salaries, overtime and bonuses
  • Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, and pension contribution
  • Maintain accurate employee records and update payroll data as required (e.g., tax codes, bank details)

Experience Needed

  • A strong background in payroll processing, with a thorough understanding of UK payroll and employment legislation
  • Proven experience of managing a payroll function,
  • Experience using payroll software such as Sage, IRIS, or similar payroll platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, HMRC guidelines, and UK pension schemes (auto-enrolment)
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to resolve complex payroll issues efficiently
  • The desire to drive continuous improvement and streamline/automate processes
  • A high level of accuracy and confidentiality in managing sensitive payroll data
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with employees at all levels
