A small and friendly independent law firm located in Romford is seeking a highly organised and detail-oriented Legal Cashier/Bookkeeper to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled individual to play a vital role in the smooth running of our accounts department.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Process and record all financial transactions accurately, including client payments, disbursements, and refunds.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of accounts payable and ensure timely payments to vendors and service providers.
  • Provide a comprehensive accounts and cashiering service to partners and staff, ensuring full compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and other relevant regulatory bodies.
  • Manage daily banking activities, including Client and Office cheque production.
  • Process CHAPS and BACS transfers efficiently and accurately.
  • Check and process client and office bills.
  • Manage and control petty cash transactions.
  • Execute same-day electronic transfers, both incoming and outgoing.
  • Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations for main client and office accounts.
  • Prepare and process the firm's VAT returns.
  • Manage the purchase ledger.
  • Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Assist with file archiving procedures.
  • Handle payroll duties.
  • Undertake any other ad-hoc tasks as required.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience operating as a Legal Cashier/Bookkeeper, preferably within a law firm environment.
  • Strong understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules.
  • Excellent numeracy and organisational skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small team.
  • Proactive and adaptable approach.
