Your role will be varied, with a key focus on providing tailored one-to-one support, helping the child to engage with activities and develop essential communication and social skills. You'll also work closely with the class teacher and the school's experienced SEN team, helping to create and implement individualised strategies that ensure the child feels confident, included, and supported in their learning environment.

As an EYFS SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing one-to-one support to a non-verbal child with ASD, helping them engage in learning activities and develop communication skills.
  • Assisting the class teacher with the delivery of engaging and differentiated lessons to meet the child's individual learning needs.
  • Supporting the child in building social skills, fostering positive interactions with peers and staff.
  • Using proven strategies to encourage good behaviour and promote positive outcomes.
  • Helping to track the child's progress and liaising with the class teacher, SENCO, and parents.
  • Maintaining a calm, structured environment that encourages learning and development for all children.
