The RoleWe are seeking a passionate and proactive Sports Coach / Behaviour Mentor to join our team. This dual role will involve delivering engaging sports sessions while also providing behavioural support to students with SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) needs. You will play a vital role in promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and personal development through structured physical activities and mentorship.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver structured sports and physical activity sessions tailored to students’ needs.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting resilience, teamwork, and confidence.
- Provide one-to-one and small-group behaviour mentoring to support students’ social and emotional development.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and de-escalation techniques to support students effectively.
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to ensure a holistic approach to student progress.
- Monitor and report on student progress, behaviour, and engagement.
- Support students with reintegration into mainstream education where appropriate.
- Experience working with young people in a coaching, mentoring, or behavioural support role.
- A background in sports coaching, youth work, or education (coaching qualifications desirable).
- Strong behaviour management skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
- A proactive and compassionate approach to supporting students with additional needs.
- An understanding of SEMH needs and experience working in an alternative provision or similar setting (desirable).
