Rotherwood Education are currently seeking a highly motivated Science Technician to join a well established secondary school in the Haslingden area. This is a full-time ongoing role, starting as soon as possible.

The successful Science Technician will:

  • Play a key role in supporting teaching staff and ensuring the smooth running of practical science lessons.
  • Prepare and set up equipment, chemicals, and materials for laboratory lessons.
  • Assist teachers and students during experiments, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment.
  • Maintain and organise the science laboratories, including equipment management and stock control.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations at all times.
  • Support the department with administrative duties as required.

As a Science Technician , you will ideally have the following:

  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician or a similar role (though full training can be provided).
  • A strong understanding of the scientific disciplines (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) and a practical knowledge of lab procedures.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers and students.
  • A commitment to maintaining a safe and stimulating environment for students.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., A-levels in Science or equivalent; a degree in a scientific subject is desirable).
  • Possess a current criminal record check (Enhanced DBS certificate that is registered with the online update service) or be prepared to apply for one as part of your registration
  • Provide details of at least two referees covering the last 5 years' work history
