JOB TITLE: Application Support Engineer (C# & SQL skills required)

LOCATION: Home based / Remote (occasional visit to the office every month)

SALARY: 35 - 45k+ (depending on experience)

My client are a leading provider of automation solutions, dedicated to delivering high-quality products and services to their clients worldwide. As part of their continuous growth, they are seeking twodynamic and experienced Application Support Engineers to join the team.

As an Application Support Engineer in Helpdesk you would be a key technical resource supporting the logistics and supply chain software systems. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of C++, C#, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), warehouse operations, automation, and tools like Freshdesk.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Understanding of how to troubleshoot, configure, and maintain WMS solutions.
  • Ability to troubleshoot or make minor modifications in the code, particularly for custom in-house applications that help manage inventory, shipments, or integration with warehouse automation tools.
  • Use your programming knowledge to troubleshoot issues with C++ and C# applications, read error logs, and fix minor bugs.
  • Solve technical issues that require code-level insights and work closely with development teams when issues arise.
  • Understand the logic behind system errors, and where needed, escalate the issue to senior developers with relevant insights or potential fixes.
  • Write or edit scripts to automate routine tasks, modify reports, or fine-tune system functionalities based on user needs.
  • Provide support for automated systems (robotics, conveyors, pick and place systems) that work alongside the WMS.
  • Knowledge of how automation systems integrate with WMS and the ability to troubleshoot both hardware (like scanners, printers, robots) and software interfaces.
  • Understanding of the logistics workflows that drive warehouse efficiency, such as inventory management, picking, packing, and shipping.
  • Use Freshdesk or similar helpdesk tools to manage and resolve tickets efficiently, ensuring minimal downtime and customer satisfaction.
  • Proactively monitor systems and resolve issues before they impact warehouse operations, ensuring minimal disruption to the logistics process.
  • Provide support and training to warehouse staff and logistics teams to ensure they can effectively use WMS and automation tools.
  • Working in 24/7 shift pattern.

The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting customers on 24/7 shift pattern basis. The Application Support Engineer will help our Helpdesk team investigate and resolve all technical issues.   • Ability to document issues clearly and communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users. You would also collaborate with developers, warehouse managers, and logistics teams to ensure solutions are implemented quickly.
  • Monitor software and hardware systems in real-time, detect problems early, and escalate to the appropriate teams.
  • Perform root cause analysis on recurring issues, using your programming knowledge and understanding of warehouse operations to pinpoint the origin of problems.
  • Handle technical inquiries, guide users through system functionalities, and offer assistance in solving application-related issues.
  • C++ and C# for troubleshooting, small enhancements, and debugging.
  • Expertise in managing monitoring and alerting systems.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to interpret written requirements and technical specification documents.
  • Flexible attitude, ability to perform under pressure.
  • Previous experience working in 24/7 shift pattern environments.
