Position: Field Service Engineer
Location: Rotherham base covering a pre-allocated geographical region of Yorkshire, Lancashire, Cheshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire
Salary: c32K + fully expensed van + target related bonus + healthcare + 25 days holiday (plus stats) + pension
As Field Service Engineer you will be responsible for carrying out planned maintenance and service work alone or alongside other service engineers
Mechanical experience is essential and some electrical control/instrumentation ideally required.
Essential duties and responsibilities.
- Carry out field planned maintenance and service work on our range of Blowers and Compressors mainly, but also other manufacturers' equipment of a similar nature as required.
- All site work to be completed safely, meeting customers site requirements for access, certification and safe working
- All work to be completed in accordance with agreed company standards and good engineering practise
- Site reports to be generated for all site visits, and Line Manager to be advised of outcome or requirements
- Work to be completed as dictated by the Site Service Co-ordinator, Site Services Manager, the After Sales Manager and the Managing Director
- Further and continuous training and development will take place in the UK and Germany amongst other places as required and agreed.
- Site visits are expected to our customer's premises. These include Sewage Treatment Plants, Factories, Cement Plants, Flour Mills and Paper Mills amongst others. Many sites are very dirty.
- Work will be mainly mechanical - changing belts and oil/filters, checking vibration and machine tightness. Installing and removing, commissioning etc.
- Electrical work will be required - checking operation and function of instruments and sensors, VSD' s and system controls. Possibly some cabling of motors and sensors where experience and certification exists
Supervisory responsibilities.
- Manage yourself on site, meeting customers expectations and working to the benefit of the Company
Qualifications
Ideally, to perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform all of the above essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Education
Ideally a HND/NVQ3 in Engineering or equivalent. (A proven track record in a related industry may be a suitable alternative to a formal qualification)
Experience
Ideally, the employee should be suitably experienced in Mechanical Engineering, preferably within the Water, Pneumatic Conveying, or Materials Handling Industries. Ideally, a good working knowledge of the units sold and their mechanical function, operation and optimisation is required.
Language skills
Good command of the English language, both written and spoken.
Mathematical skills
Ideally, all normal engineering requirements
Computer skills
Ideally, should have an extensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook. A knowledge of Autocad would be advantageous.
Electrical Engineering skills
Ideally, some electrical engineering skills would be desirable.
Certificates, licenses and registrations
A full driving licence.
Physical demands
Ideally, the employee must be suitably fit in order to carry out the demands of the job role described.
General
Ideally, the candidate should have the ability to deal with all types and levels of customers.
Location
Must be able to operate effectively from a home base with minimal support.. An expensed Van will be provided.
