Are you an experienced Project Engineer with a passion for delivering complex engineering projects from concept to commissioning? We're currently recruiting on behalf of a major industrial services organisation for a Lead Project Engineer to join their established engineering function in Sheffield.

This is a key role in the successful delivery of capital projects valued between 100k and 3M across the UK & Ireland. You'll work alongside a multidisciplinary team and play a hands-on part in everything from feasibility studies to construction oversight and commissioning. What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting Senior Project Managers and a multi-disciplinary engineering team on capital engineering projects

  • Taking ownership of project programmes and ensuring delivery on time, to budget, and to the highest safety standards

  • Leading site activities including contractor management, permit to work, plant installations, pressure testing, and commissioning

  • Managing and ensuring compliance with SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) regulations and company policies

  • Preparing cost estimates, feasibility studies and contributing to benefit realisation

  • Liaising with internal stakeholders across business units to ensure project alignment



What We're Looking For

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering

  • Around 10 years of relevant industry experience (post-graduate or equivalent) in either a contracting or operating environment

  • Proven track record of delivering engineering projects to time, budget, and safety standards

  • Strong knowledge of project engineering, sub-contracting, cost management, and proposals

  • Membership of IMechE, IChemE, APM, IET or equivalent - Chartership preferred

  • Desirable: APM PMQ qualification, IOSH or NEBOSH certificate (support can be provided)

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead, engage and influence at all levels
