We’re looking for a suitably experienced Environment, Health & Safety Advisor to help our client to ensure their operations meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environment guidelines. The role involves strategic oversight, day-to-day management, and continuous improvement of EHS processes. The company are involved in land acquisitions, construction, and redevelopment and as such would prefer someone with experience in these sectors.

Your Role

  • Advise the business on HSE risks
  • Advise on the company's obligations and responsibilities under CDM for any development work.
  • Advise the development team on any obligations and responsibilities per project as landowners.
  • Conduct and advise on risk assessments for all on-site work, ensuring the identification of hazards and the implementation of appropriate controls.
  • Ensure the Office team are also working under HSE advice in a safe environment.
  • Perform regular site and property inspection audits and audits of construction projects
  • Have oversight of the implementation of remedial and preventative actions identified by audits.
  • Lead investigations of significant incidents and near misses to identify root causes and remedial actions to reduce the risk of recurrence.
  • Design a comprehensive EHS training programme, including inductions for new hires, and refresher courses, delivering this alongside the Senior EHS Manager and EHS Compliance Manager, to give all employees up-to-date knowledge of EHS policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement robust emergency response procedures, including fire safety, evacuation plans, and first-aid protocols.

About You

You are an accomplished professional with:

  • NEBOSH National General Certificate Level 3, ideally working towards NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Experience in a practical EHS role in a related industry such as construction
  • Ability to work in a range of environments, including construction sites, which may involve exposure to machinery, and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform safety inspections, audits, and participate in emergency response drills.
  • Knowledge of UK EHS regulations, including HSE guidelines, environmental compliance (e.g. waste management, CL:AIRE MMP), and health & safety legislation.
  • Confidence to influence and inspire a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to assess complex EHS risks and implement effective solutions.
  • Proven success in implementing and maintaining Integrated Management Systems.
  • Competence with software tools, MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and incident reporting systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and experience of CDM 2015.
  • Membership in IOSH or IEMA is desirable but not essential.
