Summary of position

The post holder will work alongside our Dorchester based Workshop Manager and will liaise between projects, procurement, and the Sheffield team to ensure that the projects are built and delivered within required timescales.

Responsibilities

Team Leadership: Managing and leading a team of technicians, engineers and support staff to ensure smooth operations and project execution.

Project Coordination: Overseeing daily workshop activities, coordinating with project teams, procurement and other departments to meet deadlines and deliverables.

Resource Management: Ensuring tools, equipment and materials are available, well-maintained and used efficiently.

Quality Assurance: Implementing quality control measures to ensure high standards in project outputs and addressing any issues promptly.

Safety Compliance: Enforcing health and safety protocols, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to industry regulations.

Workflow Optimization: Streamlining processes to improve productivity, reduce costs and enhance overall efficiency.

Stakeholder Communication: Liaising with clients, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment and address any concerns.

Training and Development: Providing training and mentorship to team members to build skills and foster a collaborative work environment.

Planning your teams work, prioritising, adapting to changing circumstances and reporting on progress.

Ensuring we have efficient and safe, Standard Operating Procedures for tasks required by workshop staff.

Generation and management of technical documentation in accordance with LOOP’s product development process and departmental policies and procedures. For example,

o Build logs

o NCR’s ECR’s

o Equipment registers and calibrations

o RAMS (Risk assessment Method Statement)

o Red Penning changes and issues

o SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures)

Work with the engineering managers to ensure that functional and non-functional product and subsystem requirements are generated and maintained and complied with for all projects.

Working away on customer sites (sometimes alone and for extended periods of time)

Essential Skills/Experience

  • Previous experience of leading a team in a similar role/industry
  • Strong mechanical/Engineering background.
  • Proven ability to manage own time and prioritise tasks based on high level company objectives and understanding of project priorities.
  • Possess and exhibit a positive outlook and “can do” attitude with the willingness and ability to encourage the same in others
  • Exhibits a cooperative and collaborative approach conducive to building high functioning cross-functional teams
  • Inquisitive and curious with ability to identify problems as being technical, systemic or process in nature and able to offer solutions based on system level thinking
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills (working language is English)
  • Full UK Driving License
