Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Software Developer Apprentice to join our team. This role provides a unique opportunity to build a solid foundation in C# development, customer support, and software testing. As part of your apprenticeship, you will initially focus on providing First Line Support to customers, allowing you to gain a deep understanding of our C# WinForms application and the needs of our users. This knowledge will help you contribute effectively to maintaining and refining the application and conducting software testing to ensure quality and reliability.

This role is ideal for individuals looking to develop their skills across multiple areas, including coding, customer interaction, and quality assurance, preparing them for a future career in software development.

Daily Tasks:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for customer support inquiries via phone, email, and ticketing systems, assisting users with product issues and questions.
  • Build a strong understanding of our C# WinForms application by engaging with customers and learning how they use the software.
  • Log, categorize, and prioritize support incidents, escalating complex technical issues to second-line support or other relevant teams.
  • Provide basic troubleshooting and guide customers in resolving common issues while gathering valuable insights about software performance and user needs.
  • Assist in the maintenance and refinement of features within the existing C# WinForms application, applying the knowledge gained from customer feedback.
  • Collaborate with the development team on bug fixes, performance improvements, and feature enhancements.
  • Contribute to software testing by designing and executing test cases, performing manual testing, and documenting test results.
  • Identify and report software defects, and work with developers to troubleshoot and resolve issues before release.

What we are looking for

  • Basic knowledge of C# and object-oriented programming (gained through coursework, personal projects, or self-learning).
  • Experience or willingness to learn how to work with existing codebases, particularly C# WinForms applications.
  • Familiarity with software testing principles and methodologies (manual testing, bug reporting) is advantageous but not required.
  • Knowledge of databases (SQL) is beneficial.
  • Willingness to develop new skills in software development, testing, and customer support.

Entry Requirements:

  • 3 GCSE's (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
