Polytec are looking for a talented Senior New Product Development Engineer for our client based in Royston. You should have a strong Mechanical Engineering background. You will be working on technically complicated projects with multidisciplinary teams and will have the confidence to take on a challenging position and provide leadership to your team.

Responsibilities:

* All aspects of design, from initial concept through to production release
* Lead and/or participate in design reviews to ensure designs meet required specifications
* Identify, implement and record engineering design changes
* Support continuous improvement activities to ensure programme targets are met
* Effective handover of products to ensure successful production release
* Define detailed system specifications for new product developments

Requirements:

* Excellent degree (2:1 or above) in Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering or similar with a strong mechanical bias
* Experience of successfully developing and commercialising complex systems or scientific instruments for low to medium volume manufacture
* Track record of developing designs that achieve cost and quality targets within agreed timescales
* At least 7 years' experience conceptualising and developing complex systems containing hardware, electronics and software, ideally for life-science, biological or laboratory-based applications
* Development of consumable products for use in automated equipment
* Broad working knowledge of fluid dynamics
* Strong understanding of other engineering disciplines
* Experience in NPD, working to strict standards in highly regulated environments, e.g. medical devices or aerospace
