About the Role

Are you interested in working for a well-established global manufacturing company in the research and development field? Our client, based in Royston are looking for a Buyer to support their Purchasing department. This role is a full time and onsite role. This is a temporary position, initially for 6 months but for the right candidate could lead to more. You will have responsibility for daily purchase order creation, invoice query resolution, material scheduling for production line support and daily meetings.

We are looking for someone with a purchasing background, having experience with order placement, order processing and monitoring deliveries. You will have experience in using SAP, have strong administrative skills and good communication skills.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Use and interrogate the MRP System (SAP) to balance demand and supply, creating a delivery plan that satisfies the combined requirements of production, development, and any other sources, while keeping inventory within approved company targets
  • To have ownership of daily metric reporting on key KPI’s such as late orders, unconfirmed orders and material shortages for the business. This will also require attending a daily meeting within the purchasing team on this agenda
  • To be responsible for pro-actively identifying, escalating, and addressing risks to production requirements such as: material shortages, changes to supplier lead times impacting the production lead time, schedule stability with incoming shipments, planned inventory levels and warehousing capacities
