Operations Controller - Rail | Rugby | Up to £40,000 | on-site

 
The Opportunity:

Are you an experienced Operations/Fleet Controller looking to work for one of the UK's largest freight operators?

Ford & Stanley are proud to represent a great freight operations company who are looking for an efficient, organised and forward thinking Fleet Controller to work from their depot in Rugby.

This position is based on 12 hour shifts, 3 days on 4 days off and would be great for someone from a rail or road.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Freight Coordination: Manage and oversee the scheduling and dispatch of freight services, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  •  
  • Operational Oversight: Monitor daily freight operations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
  • Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing any queries and providing updates on freight movements.
  • Logistics Management: Collaborate with logistics teams to optimise routes, reduce transit times, and improve overall operational efficiency.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve any issues or disruptions in freight services promptly, liaising with relevant departments to implement solutions.
  • Reporting: Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports on freight activities, performance metrics, and operational KPIs.
  • Compliance: Ensure all freight activities adhere to industry regulations and company standards, conducting regular audits and checks.
  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to facilitate smooth operations.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery and efficiency.

Candidate Essentials

  • Experience: Minimum of 12 months experience in a controller position, ideally within the rail or logistics sector.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of freight operations, logistics, and supply chain management within the rail industry.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Organisational Skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem Solving: Proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing solutions, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • IT Proficiency: Competent in using relevant software and tools for freight management and reporting.
