About the Role

My Client, a rapidly growing, leading supplier of formwork systems, scaffolding, and engineering services, operating in 50+ countries is seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Engineering Technical Specialist to lead and develop a comprehensive, first-class Competency Management and Training (CMT) program throughout the UK. This national role will involve collaborating with internal teams, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and industry standards, and delivering high-quality training across the business.

As a key member of the Technical team, you will play an essential part in supporting the company’s strategic growth by developing structured training and competency programs for staff, and actively promoting technical excellence in line with company's engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Competency Management: Develop, implement, and manage a structured and evidence-based competency testing program to safeguard and support the business.
  • Training Programmes: Create UK-specific training materials and supporting tools for the company's systems and applications, ensuring compliance with UK regulations and industry standards.
  • Training Delivery: Provide training across various formats, including in-person sessions and e-learning modules.
  • Technical Support: Offer expert technical advice on all aspects of the company's products and systems.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the National Technical Manager, Engineering Director, and Product Managers to align training with the company’s engineering strategy and business growth.
  • Cross-Departmental Cooperation: Collaborate with Technical offices, Field Services, and HR to enhance staff development and refine onboarding processes.
  • Standards Compliance: Ensure that all training and development activities meet relevant industry, legal, and CDM (Construction Design and Management) compliance standards.

Key Professional Requirements

  • Qualifications:
    • Minimum of HNC in a construction-related subject (e.g., Civil Engineering).
    • Strong understanding of Health and Safety practices.
    • Proven training and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Experience:
    • In-depth knowledge of formwork, scaffolding, and shoring designs.
    • Proven ability to deliver training and present to groups.
    • Familiarity with CAD-based design tools and Frame Analysis programs.
    • Understanding of European and British Standards applicable to the company's systems.
    • Experience in knowledge management and staff development.
    • Awareness of CDM compliance requirements.
    • At least 5 years experience working in a similar formwork or scaffolding business in the UK

    • High organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • Reliable, trustworthy, and adaptable to fast-changing environments.

Other Requirements

  • Travel: Flexible to travel nationally and internationally as required.
  • Driving Licence: A valid UK driving licence is required.
  • Right To Work: You must already have the right to live and work in the UK. My client is not looking to provide sponsorship

Remuneration and Benefits

  • up to £47,500 pa Basic Salary (DOE)
  • £7,300 Cash allowance for a car
  • Non contractual annual bonus
