SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Rugby (CV22)

Pay: 395-430 (Weekly Take Home after Tax and NI)

Contract Type: Full-time, long-term

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm

Start Date: 28/04/2025 (After Easter)

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 2:1 support for two Reception aged girls in a welcoming primary school in Rugby (CV22). This role is essential in helping them transition smoothly into Year 1, using structured visual support strategies.

About the Role

  • Supporting two girls in a Reception class who have Autism and Speech & Language Communication Needs
  • Creating a structured and supportive learning environment
  • Using tools such as Now & Next boards, PECS, and other visual communication strategies
  • Helping to prepare the children for their transition into Year 1
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement individual learning plans

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 2:1 support within a Reception classroom setting
  • Use Now & Next boards, PECS, and other visual supports to aid communication and transitions
  • Support the children in developing their independence, confidence, and social skills
  • Build a nurturing and engaging environment to encourage progress
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to meet the children's needs

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience supporting children with Autism (ASD) and Speech & Language needs
  • Knowledge of visual support strategies (Now & Next boards, PECS, Makaton is a plus)
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting young learners
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND training) is desirable
