Pay: 395-430

Contract Type: Full-time, long-term

Hours: 8:30am-3:30pm

Do you have experience supporting children with Autism and SEMH needs?

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 child with Autism and Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a supportive primary school setting in Rugby (CV22). The ideal candidate will have experience helping with speech and language development and supporting children in KS1 or KS2.

About the Role

  • Providing 1:1 support for a Year 3 child with Autism and SEMH needs.
  • Assisting with speech and language development using tailored communication strategies.
  • Implementing structured routines and emotional regulation techniques.
  • Creating a calm and supportive learning environment.
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to follow individual learning plans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Use visual supports, Makaton, PECS, or other communication strategies to aid speech development.
  • Support emotional regulation through structured activities and positive behaviour strategies.
  • Adapt learning materials to meet the child's needs and engagement levels.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to provide holistic support.
  • Track progress and adapt support strategies where necessary.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working 1:1 with children with Autism and SEMH needs
  • Knowledge of speech and language development strategies
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management and emotional regulation techniques
  • Experience supporting KS1 or KS2 learners
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEND training) is desirable
