I’m working with a growing organisation to support them in recruiting for a Mechanical Minded Maintenance Technician, where you will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of their manufacturing site including machinery and facilities. This position is essential for ensuring equipment reliability, improving processes, and maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Execute both planned and reactive maintenance to ensure uninterrupted production, adhering to food safety and health & safety requirements.
  • Coordinate and supervise specialist contractors for key infrastructure equipment such as HVAC systems, lifts, and material handling equipment.
  • Conduct and document maintenance activities in compliance with health & safety regulations, BRCGS standards, food safety protocols, and legal requirements.
  • Provide technical support to machine operators, enhancing their understanding of equipment use and promoting operator-led maintenance.
  • Develop and execute preventative maintenance schedules using techniques like TPM, RCA, and FMEA to boost equipment reliability.
  • Analyse maintenance data to identify trends in equipment failures and develop solutions to address root causes.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance site reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Manage spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of critical components while minimizing excess stock.
  • Monitor and act on KPIs related to maintenance efficiency, downtime, and equipment performance.
  • Maintain site infrastructure to ensure all facilities are fit for purpose and meet operational requirements.
  • Collaborate with various teams to align maintenance activities with production goals while maintaining compliance with food safety standards.
  • Prepare documentation and processes for both internal and external audits, including BRCGS certification.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Time-served Mechanical or Electrical Maintenance engineer with a strong technical foundation.
  • Minimum qualifications: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent and HNC in a relevant discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Competence in using and managing CMMS.
  • Strong understanding of modern maintenance techniques and methodologies.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and coordinate maintenance activities effectively.
  • Awareness of health & safety standards and practices in manufacturing.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with a focus on teamwork and collaboration.
  • Experience in troubleshooting and problem-solving in a high-pressure environment.
