Your new company
Hays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Runcorn-based single-form entry primary school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to recruit a reliable and experienced SEN teaching assistant to work within their KS1 resource provision. This is a long-term full-time contract supporting SEMH and behavioural needs on a 1:1 basis, starting after the Easter half-term.

Your new role
As a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting a number of pupils with SEN within a resource provision. As you will be supporting a number of pupils with SEMH and behavioural needs, you will be required to take a pupil-centred approach to education. This will not only ensure that each pupil's individual needs and emotional state are met, but also aid you to develop strong constructive relationships. You will work alongside the class teacher and teaching assistants to offer a safe and stimulating learning environment for all pupils by utilising an array of learning equipment and implementing a myriad of positive behaviour strategies including "Now & Next", distraction and de-escalation. You will also offer intervention and booster sessions on a 1:1 basis.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered in your application you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK, a Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification, and:

  • Experience supporting children and/or young people with behavioural needs or SEMH
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies within a classroom environment
  • Be able to commit to a long-term full-time contract (8:30am - 3:30pm)
